Good to know about O2: O2 has no minimum term on any tariff, so you can cancel at any time without penalty. Only the account holder can request the cancellation, or by email to bajas@o2online.es, attaching a copy of your ID. You will receive a final invoice prorated for the days of service. If you have fibre, you must return the equipment to a Movistar store within 15 days of cancellation; if you do not, they may charge you the value of the equipment (around €78-97 depending on the router or ONT model). If O2 raises the price unilaterally, you have the right to cancel without penalty. The cancellation must be processed within a maximum of 2 business days (art. 7 of RD 899/2009). Keep the router delivery receipt and the case number (número de expediente) as proof. Avoid handling it by phone or chat alone: there is no record of the date or the content of your request, and retention calls are common. A written, reliable communication with acknowledgment of receipt gives you the proof you need if problems arise later.

What you get by sending your cancellation as a burofax

In practice: your cancellation is verifiably delivered and validly communicated to O2, with a proven date. The legal deadlines run from that day and O2 is legally obliged to process it. We can't force them to do it properly nor stop them from calling — but they can no longer deny receiving it, or when, and you hold the proof to enforce it.

Frequently asked questions

How do I cancel O2 in Spain?

Write a formal cancellation request with your details, your customer number and the effective date, and send it to O2 by a means that creates proof (burofax, certified mail or the official cancellations channel). Our generator drafts the letter for you in under 2 minutes — you can download it free as a PDF.

Do I need to speak Spanish to use this?

No. You fill in the form in English; the letter itself is generated in formal Spanish — which is what O2 expects and what works legally in Spain. You see a live preview and can download the PDF for free.

Can I cancel if I'm still within my lock-in period (permanencia)?

Yes — you can always cancel. The operator may charge a penalty, but it must be proportional to the remaining commitment, not the full amount. Check your contract and compare the penalty with what you'd pay until the end.

What is a burofax and why does it matter in Spain?

A burofax is Spain's standard method for legally reliable communications — roughly the equivalent of certified mail with proof of content. It proves you sent the letter and, with acknowledgment of receipt, that it was delivered. Spanish companies take it seriously.

How much does cancelling O2 cost with DarmeDeBaja.es?

Generating and downloading your letter as a PDF is free, no sign-up. If you want us to send it for you as an electronic burofax with acknowledgment of receipt, it costs €4.99 per delivery — a traditional postal burofax can cost up to €36.
